"HAVE YOU HEARD THE ONE..?"
by Bill Rodgers

Fresh from his success directing our sell-out smash "Strictly Flamenco", professional actor/director Bill Rodgers returns to the Old Nick with a play about you - penned by himself.
Originally a one-man show, this gently comic drama is a verbatim piece set in a Northern working men's club, where bustling club life masks the personal stories, some funny, some tragic, of the regulars. Held together by the Northern Comic performing at the venue, this hugely entertaining piece is teeming with true tales, and promises to be a unique evening's theatre. Performed at a host of national venues, "Have You Heard The One..?" also toured as far afield as New Zealand to great critical acclaim, which makes its regional debut at the start of our new season definitely an event not to be missed!

by Frederico Garcia Lorca
in a version by Rona Munro

When Bernarda's husband dies, she locks all the doors and windows, telling her grown-up daughters to sew and be silent. "There are eight years of mourning ahead of us. While it lasts, not even the wind will get into this house". But locks can't hold back the growing tide of desire...
Classic drama returns to the Old Nick with this powerhouse of Spanish Theatre, reimagined by "Iron" author Munro and produced by Kerry Greenwood, director of the award-winning "September In The Rain". Transcending its domestic setting, the play explores themes of freedom, censorship and self-expression, and features one of the greatest female roles in theatre literature in the powerful and dominating matriarch Bernarda. All in all, a production not to be missed!
