A Dickensian Christmas
December 2011

Ostensibly GTC's members' Christmas party, A Dickensian Christmas turned out to be much more, with many of the members contributing their time and talents to make this a most successful evening.
Set in the parlour of a stately home and visited by a host of guests with a Christmas offering, there were humourous monologues, sketches, a Two Ronnies tribute, music and carols, all followed by a tasty Christmas
dinner. Magic!

A Kick In The Baubles
November 2011

Sold out nearly every night, the audience were frequently in stitches over this very funny and festive play. The cast gave it their all and the new members acquitted themselves well to the delight of all who attended, many saying it was one of the best evenings they'd ever had in this theatre.
N.O.D.A. drew to the attention of it's members the input and talent of Sue Hill, Megan Bean and Phil Young which was outstanding for first time actors.
The set and lighting were mentioned for their attention to detail.
It was unfortunate for those turned away owing to full house and we hope this trend continues.

A Murder Has Been Arranged
September 2011

This well attended play showed that the talent of Gainsborough Theatre goes from strength to strength. With a relatively new cast this play returned to the roots of the theatre company of putting new talent on the stage in Gainsborough. As ever NODA gave a good revue and with little exception, thought the play had the suspense and drama that was needed to hold this popular production together. Giving us an exciting start to the new season which we hope you will continue to support.

A note from the Chairman

Dear Members,

May I take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is John Derbyshire and have been a member for the last 4 years and along with my fellow directors, we have worked hard to help improve the facilities within the theatre. In addition, we have worked tirelessly to help raise funds that have been spent on improvements throughout the theatre.

I know that I enter the post of chairman at a difficult time for the theatre but look forward to the challenges that this holds. My fellow directors and I will continue to push forward the objectives of the theatre in all aspects of the arts to promote new and fresh theatre to the Gainsborough community

In the current economical climate and with some shrewd negotiations we stand financially secure as long as we do not sit back on our laurels. With your continued help and support the future of Gainsborough Theatre Company will flourish and go from strength to strength.

The plays offered this season seem to be well balanced as with most years, a mix of comedy and tragedy, which are the trade mark over the years of GTC. With that in mind I would like to thank Alan Ayris and Barry Evans for their safe steering of the theatre over the many years that they were at the helm. My fellow directors and I are sorry that they have stepped down. Alan remains as a Director, Barry has relinquished his directorship but we are pleased that he remains one of our members, an ever worthy asset to any organisation. We wish them all the best and hope to see both really soon

I hope that I am able to serve you, as well as all my predecessors' have in the past. Putting what has gone before, behind us, this should be an exciting and prosperous new season and I look forward to seeing you at the next production.

John = Chairman GTC.
